Hosting a Gong Soiree

Thinking about hosting a gong soiree but not sure where to start? Here are some things you should consider along with some useful tips to ensure its smooth running.

Your Guests

Who are you going to invite to your Gong Soiree?

Friends and family? Or is this a work-related or charity event?

Room Layout

The gongs take up surprisingly little floor space  - about 1 sq metre.  So it should be quite easy to work out how many guests you can accommodate. People generally like to experience the gongs lying down, although some may prefer to sit back in a reclining chair or sofa. The main thing is to try and make sure everyone is going to be comfortable. Plenty of cushions, plus mats, rugs and/or blankets, etc., should do the trick! Plus you could ask people to bring their own.

The Venue

Although the gongs can sometimes seem quite loud the sound does not carry so you are most unlikely to disturb the neighbours!

Conversely, the best way to appreciate the gongs is in a quiet, contemplative environment, so check whether there could be an issue with noise disturbances from outside.

What about parking? The gongs are quite heavy to carry so it's nice to know in advance about ease of access.

Timings

Set up time is around 30 minutes and the gong bath itself lasts about an hour.  There's usually a short introduction and it's a good idea to set aside some time afterwards for people to share their experiences.  You may then wish to offer refreshments, or there may, of course, be other activities to follow.

Prices

Gordon's performance fee is on a sliding scale based on numbers attending an hour-long event.
It starts at a minimum £80 for up to five people.
Plus travelling expenses of 25p a mile from the Gong Soirees base in Brighton. For an event in London that would typically be £25.
Special reduced rates for online gong soirees. Contact us for more details
As far as paid-for events are concerned - that is people paying to attend - fees can be negotiated instead based on a revenue split.  Fees for corporate events also negotiable. Discounts for charity functions.
